Mount Elgon Field

Mount Elgon Field (MEF) continues to witness God’s leading as it advances the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Eastern Uganda. During the recently held Second Consitituency Session on 07th January 2026, church leadership presented reports reflecting progress, challenges, and a clear spiritual direction for the new quinquennium.

Since its inauguration in June 2024, Mount Elgon Field has experienced notable organizational and spiritual growth. Membership now stands at 15,018, serving a population of over 1.3 million people, reaffirming the urgency of evangelism and discipleship in the region. Executive Secretary’s Report

Through intentional evangelistic efforts aligned with the “I Will Go” strategy, more than 2,500 souls were baptized over the last two years, with new churches, Sabbath Schools and districts established to strengthen pastoral care and outreach.

The Field has also expanded its ministerial workforce, deploying ordained and licensed pastors, Global Mission Workers, and chaplains to both entered and previously un-entered territories. Significant emphasis has been placed on training and capacity building, with several workers currently pursuing theological and professional studies to enhance service quality.

Beyond evangelism, Mount Elgon Field continues to invest in education, heath infrastructure, and media ministry. Developments at SDA Bulaago Secondary School, progress in church-run health facilities, support to local congregations through construction materials, and the establishment of a modern AWR-supported radio broadcasting system all reflect a holistic approach to mission.

While challenges remain, including financial limitations, land titling, and the need for stronger Total Member Involvement, the Field enters the 2026 – 2030 quinquennium with renewed commitment. Strategic priorities include deeper Bible grounding, intensified mission outreach, stewardship development, leadership training, and institutional compliance, all under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

As Mount Elgon Field moves forward, leadership and members alike reaffirm their dedication to God’s mission, trusting in His promise.
