The Quality of Our Leadership Reflects the Quality of Our Congregation

Events January 8, 2026

Mount Elgon Field held its 2nd Constituency Session on 8th January 2026 at Mbale Central Church.

Many people hear the term Constituency Session and assume they understand it, yet hesitate to ask questions for fear of appearing uninformed. This article is meant to help such Nicodemuses, quiet seekers of understanding, by explaining the process in simple terms for the benefit of all.

In simple language, a Constituency Session is a platform where your voice as a church member is heard by church leadership, especially in matters of policy and leadership.

According to the Church Manual 2025, page 124, church members are represented at this level through delegates, members chosen from the local church to carry the voice of the congregation to higher leadership.

So, how do you participate as a church member?

  1. You have the right to choose qualified delegates, individuals who are trustworthy, spiritually mature and able to make wise, balanced decisions.
  2. You have the right to participate in nominating delegates when the pastor or first elder presents the matter to the church.

It is important for every church member to take interest in the selection of delegates because delegates carry your voice to top leadership.

Good leadership begins with a responsible and engaged congregation, one that takes church governance seriously.

Likewise, poor leadership often reflects a congregation that is disengaged, indifferent, or careless about who represents it.

Your participation matters. The future direction of the church is shaped, in part, by the choices you make today.

Thank you so for the updates and the highlights. We are so humbled upon our appointment by the session nominating committee. We are praying for God’s guidance as we assume the new roles given to us through this Quinqennium.

The church is so blessed to have you MDM. We should all use our profession to impact the church of God.
Keep sharing these insights of church policies. Many are caught unaware yet this is information that every professing SDA member should/must know.
We are in the information age and none should be left behind
