THE QUIET POWER OF HUMILITY

In a world that often measures greatness by titles, positions, and distance from “ordinary people,” humility remains a rare and powerful virtue. True humility does not shout; it speaks softly through actions. It does not seek attention; it draws hearts. One such living lesson of humility was clearly seen in the life and ministry of our former Uganda Union President, Pr. Dr. Maka Moses.
Before his elevation to the office of Executive Secretary of the East and Central Africa Division, Pr. Dr. Maka Moses made several visits to local church places. These visits were not ceremonial displays of authority, nor were they guarded encounters limited to leaders and officials. Instead, they were simple, genuine moments of fellowship. Despite holding the high and respected office of Union President, he chose to walk among the people—freely, warmly, and without pretense.
What touched many souls most deeply was his willingness to mingle naturally with everyone he met. He did not separate himself from the congregation. He did not hide behind protocol. He spoke with elders and children alike. He laughed, listened, and shared moments with members whose names may never appear in reports or minutes. Even the students of Yomako Secondary School experienced this rare grace—seeing a church leader of such stature interact with them as a father, a mentor, and a fellow believer.
This is the true power of humility: it removes fear and builds bridges. Where pride creates distance, humility creates connection. Where authority can intimidate, humility inspires. Many students and members were not moved by a sermon preached from a pulpit, but by a life preached through simple presence.
Humility teaches us that leadership is not about elevation above others, but descent into service. Jesus Himself set this example when He washed the feet of His disciples and declared, “Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.” In this spirit, Pr. Dr. Maka Moses demonstrated that spiritual leadership is not diminished by humility—it is crowned by it.
There is also a profound lesson here for current and future leaders. God does not promote people merely because they are powerful; He promotes those who are faithful, teachable, and humble. It is no coincidence that one who walked humbly among church members was later entrusted with a wider responsibility in the Division. Scripture reminds us, “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” Exaltation that comes from God is often preceded by humility before people.
For the young people who witnessed this humility—especially the students—it planted a seed. It showed them that greatness in God’s kingdom is not loud, arrogant, or distant. It is gentle, accessible, and grounded. Such examples preach louder than words and remain etched in memory long after titles change.
In the end, humility is not weakness; it is strength under God’s control. It is the grace that allows a leader to kneel without fear of losing honor, knowing that honor comes from God alone. The life and conduct of Pr. Dr. Maka Moses remind us that when humility walks into a room, hearts open, faith is strengthened, and God is glorified.
May this lesson continue to inspire us all—to lead humbly, to serve sincerely, and to remember that the highest calling is not a position, but a Christ-like character.

Great, Humility is one of the negligeable things that most christians have ignore, but it’s one of the Christian attribute that whoever confesses to follow Jesus should have it. It was through humility that me and you are alive today, Jesus was indeed humiliated, think of it a holy one who had no sin but what was the ultimate, he is now seated at the right hand of God, it gives us a lesson that through humiliation for the sake of God we are finally exalted and entrusted in big responsibilities, thank you
